island ruins

marble statues of my gods

voluntarily shatter into the sea

as my naiveté dives

for blackened pearls

my siren tail dances

amidst sargasso netting

i could die happily

breathing sea water

those standing upon the shore

casting hooks

screaming do not save her

have never bothered

to know me
