what you do to me
is what magnolia trees do
to the french quarter
in new summer bloom
what you do to me
makes me feel like a woman
glowing sexy and strong
what you do to me
is what makes me seek the lingering scent of your skin in unlikely places
what you do to me
is make me fall
to my knees laughing
with continuous aplomb
what you do to me
is make me feel wanted and cared for
as you whisper
you would do anything to protect me
what you do to me
is make me feel loved
when you hold my hand
for no reason
what you do to me
is make me see
how good it could be
as you open
your feather draped arms
what you do to me
is make me purely happy
more than anyone
i’ve ever known
One reply on “what you do to me (ode to los angeles)”
Nice. Reads like lyrics. I’ve read odes to LA before but it’s usually by jaded writers who think they’ve seen everything this city has to offer. When non-Angelenos write of it there’s magic.
