the blue moon
arrives late
to my little dinner party
only to discover
tonight is your birthday
his silver cheeks blush red
with innocent unknowing
while holding
a cobalt bottle of wine
two love birds of the same color
nest
in the back yard willow tree
that has never wept with such passion
the table is set for
four
tonight
though only
three
will be dining
a pristine alabaster plate
gently placed in your honor
square in shape
reflects the glow
of your
phantom birthday candles
this simple gesture
my unspoken wish
to the universe
for your unending happiness
adorning
lovely
as i serve the meal with a smile
through
i miss you tears
heart full of the knowledge
every year of your existence
is a year
that stars conspired
to form a heaven
