this is the evening
two poets
will sit back
into an
unlikely september night
on a
raining porch prophetic
full of monday revelations
in their late summer afterglow
discussing
red ribbon theory
and unified plane intentions
he
a sea god
immortal
flowing hair
chest striped
with the blues of greece
she
ethereal
woman from a painting
who danced into his life
to strains of african jazz
this is the evening
he will give her
a trinket purchased
in the hope of her existence
while traveling through taos
a silver hair pin with
lapis lazuli
blue and gold ocean
adorning the center
stone
given to queens by kings
throughout time
from england to sumer
meant to bring forth gentleness
and cause deities to rejoice within the wearer
useful to witches and shaman
a fertility charm given
for weaving
bonds of affection between lovers
this is the evening
they will begin to wonder what their child’s laughter would sound like
as the sound of their voices
float above
the hydrangea bush
this is the evening
they
will
fall
in love
