pushing stars into heaven

he walks to her chair
arms outstretched

papal nuncio

ambassador first to rome
then god coming after

keeper of all things she believes holy

her arms pass through his robes as she receives him
finding mortal flesh meant for scratching
but she does not dig in her nails

she wraps her legs around his
tucking her head beneath his chin
releasing a sigh of daylight

her happiness
pushing stars into heaven
