the night we briefly died

i walked to the back of the bar
spotting him levitate above the crowd

beckoned by his eyes
the room faded to black

as i kissed him on the cheek
too intimately close to the ear
saying i love you
without regard for innocent bystanders

he softly screamed the same words into my ear
burying his face in my hair

breaking from his embrace
i turned around and left the place
never looking back

with only us
and the bartender who dropped a glass
understanding what just happened
