humbled in cincinnati

cincinnati
queen city
i love you
in all your glory

your seven roman hills
cradled within the ohio valley

your muddy winding river
who has forgotten
the green sickness of the ocean

my eyes fall in reverence
upon the crown
worn atop your royal skyline

you have given me
such a marvelous introduction
to the waiting world

been my safe place
when all else was danger

i even love the way
your name rolls off my tongue

as i write this i am 35
never more alive

you are my home

this is my love poem

and i am

humbled in cincinnati
